NEW Dive Summary

NEWS NEWS NEWS ***

  • I'm now back from my "Get Wrecked" liveaboard trip aboard Ghazala Explorer in the Red Sea. An excellent trip booked through ScubaTravel. The blog is under construction now so check it out, it will be complete soon - 'Red Sea 2 Liveaboard 2025'.
  • I have now split "Scuby Snaps" into two pages as, with so many images on one page, it was getting quite slow to load on some devices. Also now added Scuby images from the "Get Wrecked" trip on Ghazala Explorer.
  • Added a new item on the navigation bar called "Interest Blogs" with a link to a page about the importance of CPR training. Ongoing, more items will be added.
  • Added a new image to the carousel above of the Ancient Nautilus seen during the Australian Barrier Reef trip in 2016.
  • Also see the new Dive Summary (link above) which lists the highlights of my many dives.

In 2025 so far I have had the pleasure of three more liveaboards - Komodo National Park and Egypt twice - adding a further 57 dives to my total, 21 from "Get Wrecked". All liveaboards were of excellent quality in terms of accomodation, crew, dive guides and dives and I would definately do them all again at some time. See my dive blogs for details. Ghazala Explorer is due to go off for full refurbishment in the next couple of weeks to bring it up to the same standard as Ghazala Adventurer, so for next year it will be even better.

Unfortunately I didn't get any Scubie Snaps from the Bali/Komodo trip on board the Solitude Adventurer, things just didn't work out, but both this trip and the previous Thailand and Egypt trips were of an extremely high standard and well worth doing.

A trip to Mexico in June 2023 was a bit of a disaster, I only got one dive in whilst I was there. I had hoped for 3 days of diving with Blue Experience, a dive company I have used before, however they have changed hands so I didn't recognise anyone. There had been some bad weather on the days preceding my dives and the harbour was closed, hence no dives, but I did manage to get one dive only.

It was a little bit annoying really, because I have already told them I would be interested in a trip over to Cozumel but, first it was on, then it was off, then it was on again and they sent me an email asking me if I was interested - duh. By the time I got the email and said yes, they had already let the space go to someone else. Why they didn't ring me I do not know.

Gozo. Loss of an iconic natural feature.

The image on the right is the Blue Hole and Azure Window on Gozo. Sadly the Azure Window is no longer there, destroyed by a storm on 9th March 2017 at 9:40am. Both the limestone arch and the stacks on either side of it are gone. A sad loss of a natural beauty site for everyone.
